Ida M. Sydnor, Founder
and Executive Director of The Village
Project, has worked with at risk youth for more than 35 years.
She created and implemented the Save our Children Five-year
Protection Plan, The Computer Alternative Center for
Independent Study, and The Save Our Children Conference which
convenes yearly. These programs along with other job training
services funded through JTPA, service more than 1,000 youth
annually.
Sydnor began her
public service in 1976 in California as a Community Relations
Representative in Governor Brown’s administration. In 1980,
she developed the first community computer school known as the
‘Black Sacramento Christian Club Organizers’ where computer
technology and Christian values were taught to students in an
after school program. From 1990-2000, she served as
President and Vice-president of the Sacramento Branch of the
NAACP where she is a lifetime active member. Her affiliations
